About Our
Staff
Steve Winslow is a
native of Wallace, Idaho. A graduate of L. D. Bell High School, his educational
background includes a Bachelor's of Music in music performance from West Texas
State University and a Master's of Music in music performance with a minor in
conducting from North Texas State University. Mr. Winslow served as fine arts
chairperson at Keller Middle School for two years and is an active mentor for
new teachers and students. He has been awarded Teacher of the Year at Keller
Middle School, a Teacher of the Year Finalist in the district, and granted
lifetime membership by the Keller PTA. Affiliations include Texas Music
Educator's Association, Texas Bandmaster's Association, Texas Music
Adjudicator's Association, and International Tuba Euphonium Association. He is an
active judge for U.I.L. competitions
Justin Wright spent most of
his life in the DFW area aside from a brief three year period in Wiesbaden,
Germany as a child, a few summers touring the country, and a year teaching
in Austin, TX. He is a graduate of Haltom High School where he earned the
honor of becoming a Texas All-State musician for two years and a member of
The Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra for one year.
Justin earned a music scholarship to the Texas Christian University
School of Music, where he earned a bachelor of Music Education and performed
with the Wind Ensemble, the TCU Symphony Orchestra, Basketball Band, and The
Horned Frog Marching Band for four and a half years. During this time he
also auditioned and was awarded a spot to perform with elite drum and bugle
corps including the Santa Clara Vanguard in 2001 and the Cavaliers in 2002
and 2003.
After completing his degree, he filled an interim band
position at Kennedale High School before taking a full time position
teaching 6th-8th grade band at Canyon Vista Middle
School in Austin, Texas. He is currently in his sixth year teaching in
Keller ISD and resides in Euless with his wife Taylor, daughter Willa, son
Silas, cats Princess Jellybögen and Vladimeow, and their 100 lb lab mix,
Coatie.
Ryan Gaughan
Ryan Gaughan was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and began
piano at the age of six. Shortly after 4th grade he moved to the
North Texas area, and like most beginners started clarinet in sixth grade.
Graduation from McKinney North High school happened in 2007.
Ryan’s pursuit of musical excellence led him to TCU where
he performed with the TCU Wind symphony in Carnegie Hall. Ryan is a proud
alumni of Kappa Kappa Psi national band fraternity, and Mu Phi Epsilon
Professional Music Fraternity. While at TCU Ryan involved himself with the
TCU marching band, TCU Symphony, TCU Wind Symphony, and even joined a Choir.
Performance experiences includes notable performances at Shanghai
Conservatory, Winspear Opera House, Palacio Real de Madrid, Bass Hall,
2011 Rose Bowl, and the Meyerson Symphony Center. He earned a Bachelor’s of
Music Education in 2011. Affiliations include Texas Music Educators
Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, International Clarinet
Organization, and Kappa Delta Pi.
